I Choose to Rebel

Lief

Some of us are born rebellious; I was… A SAINT! I was the most well behaved kid in my neighborhood, school and at home. I realized that being “good” was rewarded with the praise and admiration of adults that surrounded me. To tell the truth, I didn’t even have a rebellious phase as a teenager! Yet everything I liked, created, or wanted to become was out of the social norm. I’ve never fitted in and I am proud of it.
I’ve channelled my “rebelliousness” into creativity and self expression and until this day I honor that part of me in everything that I do, especially fashion!

I wanted to give life to my rebellious side and there was no better brand to channel my badass self than PUTUMAYO!

I chose a red and black 3 tiered ruffle skirt, rebel colored, yet girly design (just like me!) and paired it with my favorite PUTUMAYO shirt in white to add contrast (besides, the printed design which is the coolest thing ever!). A biker’s jacket was a must, and to tie it all together I added a baller hairstyle and bold make up into the mix!
Oh, and aren’t those shoes to die for?

Such confidence in these photos! It’s always refreshing to see JFASHION mixed with Western trends. Even though the outfit is fantastic and definitely giving that rebellious vibe, what catches my attention first is your face! The makeup really compliments a strong look!

Dani! Amazing look! I was the same way growing up (my parents now say I’m finally going thru my rebellious phase lol). I was the quiet girl (artsy and a little quirky) but after moving to such a large city and seeing so much diversity was a major awakening! I don’t think I rebel so much as I now feel more freedom to express myself – I have more confidence to raise my voice (either thru art or opinions).

Are you living for yourself or for others?
At this point in my life, I am definitely living for myself. There are points in my life where I forgot who I was and what I was about, but we all go through that every now and again.

What does “being rebellious” mean to you?
I think it varies from person to person. Someone might think that coloring their hair pink is being rebellious, while another might think that committing a crime is what it means to be a rebel. My level of rebellion is not normal(I’m sure) compared to the next person’s. I think a large part of being a rebel or not depends on if you follow the status quo, or if you play “Keeping up with the Jones’s”.

In what way are you being a rebel?
I don’t really ever think about myself being labeled as a rebel because I just live my life to the beat of my drum. I don’t care how I get judged by others because in the end, I need to be happy with what I’ve done, not with what they think. I suppose to the standard mold of American, I’m rebelling by supporting a 3rd party candidate, I’m against the North Dakota Access Pipeline, and I believe that Black Lives Matter. But to the people that matter most in my life, I’m just being a normal person 🙂

Danii!!! You look like a rockstar. So pretty! 🙂 I will like to say that I do live for myself, always have, even if it gets me in trouble. As my mom would always tell me, you shouldn’t try to live for anyone else but God lol.
For me, being rebellious is not following the way others say is correct. To be rebellious is to be a leader in your own decisions on what makes you happy, what you believe in, and what makes you, you.
My ways of rebelliousness is to make my life decisions on what fits me from day to day. I don’t let what people think or say alter my ways of living. There is only one me, so why not show who I am. 🙂

Putumayo rocks, right!? also Marc did a great job with the camera.
As corny as it sounds, it is true that you need to love yourself to be able to truly love others.
I miss you, and I hope we can see you again some time Yaneth!

Me encantó la actitud de ésta entrada! *–*
And I will share one of the answers.
-What does “being rebellious” mean to you?
It’s definitely to be true to myself at all times. Either to express my opinion, judge something or even through clothing wherever I am.

I believe that being authentic is quite rebellious! because sometimes people prefer to adapt to others than to oneself, the fear of offending is sometimes greater than the courage to be faithful, and that is why many people don’t live happy and become just, ordinary, (when they wish they could do more) and that is awful.

      Absolutely!
We all want to be accepted, but first we need to accept and love ourselves. Once we do that, we will be surrounded by the people who will always love us and accept us for who we truly are.
      Much love for you.

I’m definitely living more for myself more than how I was in the past. I used to be very self conscious & be aware to fit in. It took me a long journey, but now I have the confidence & be accepting for who I am & what I like. Living for yourself has more meaning than following other. Btw, rebel Dani is adorable!!! ೭੧(❛▿❛✿)੭೨ #womancrushmonday XDD
