My style reflects my persona, and my persona is quite diverse. I am mommy in one moment, business woman in another, or portray a facet of fictional characters to connect to my pop culture fans.
What I wear varies almost on a day to day basis pending my mood.
Lately things have been intense and I’ve been feeling solemn. I sought to find the appropriate outfit to reference my state and recalled the Harajuku brand, Sheglit, featured in popular Japanese magazine Gothic & Lolita Bible.
Sheglit’s attention to acute detail and high quality fabrics are impeccable.
Sheglit is a fairly new label, created by Japanese Designer Imai of former gothic brand, Black Peace Now. Sheglit introduces gothic elements into high fashion to develop a new style combining chic and artistic and can be dressed for formal or casual.
I am honored to be the first to showcase the brand outside of Japan. Moody Mansions in Galveston, Texas provided a beautiful backdrop for us.
The colors of Sheglit are sophisticated and I felt classically elegant. It took me from that solemn place I was in and transferred my state to one of fantasy and daydreaming. It was what I needed to be inspired again to create, manage, and execute my ongoing projects. I love that fashion can do that for me. By trying something new, I can alter my state of mind and exemplify my diverse persona.
Many of us tend to play it safe with fashion. We are faithful to a monotonous style, whether it’s sticking to the same colors, patterns, or types of clothing and accessories in our wardrobe. We get comfortable and fear trying a new look or style. In the past several years, I have embraced all types of fashion styles and learnt to rid of the self doubt in trying something new. I invite you to not be safe in fashion. Instead, be courageous with it. Would you attempt to break out of your style?
XOXO,
Deneice
